There are three separate practice groups for Delmarva
Wrestling Club:
Team Delmarva
| This is a dual meet team
that will enter various events around the area, including the NHSCA
National Duals to be held in Salisbury.
Singlets and entry fees for these tournaments will be
paid for by the club. Lineups are decided by wrestle-offs in practice. A
schedule will be posted as needed. |
 |
| The coaching
staff will be of the highest quality - All-Americans from Salisbury
State college and other alumni, local high school coaches, and other
former collegiate wrestlers will all be sharing their skills. See
the coaching staff
page to find out more.
|
| Freestyle/Greco-Roman
Coached by Steve Culver, a former Penn State wrestler
who is now assistant coach at Easton (MD) High School, the FS/G
practices will focus on the techniques, rules and strategies of these
Olympic forms of wrestling.
Technique and Drilling
This group will be dedicated to those who've just
started in the sport and need more repetition and time with the basics.
Drilling and situational wrestling in all three positions (top, bottom,
neutral) will be stressed, and there will be live wrestling as well.
Coaches include Tim Kendall, assistant at Stephen Decatur and former
head coach of Easton. |
History of Team Delmarva
| Team Delmarva was founded by
Homer King, owner of Delmarva Auto Glass, after many years of service to
the wrestling community as a coach at Parkside High School and founder
and benefactor of previous clubs in the Salisbury, MD area, including
Eastern Shore Wrestling Club. Team Delmarva began as a Delmarva
All-Stars, a dual meet team and practice club during the summer of 2005,
and wrestled in the NHSCA National Wrestling Duals in Salisbury, MD that
summer and in 2006. |
 |
 |
| Homer was presented with a Service to
Wrestling Award by the 15 coaches of the Bayside Conference in MD in
February 2007 for his efforts to create Team Delmarva. |
